Welcome!

Welcome to

Tina McGee’s
PPCD 3 & 4 year old Classroom

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to my classroom. I look forward to getting to know each of you personally as the year progresses. I have many fun and educational activities planned to make this a great year of learning.

 About Our Classroom:

The main focus during the first few days of school will be to introduce your child to their new classroom and teachers. The students will be learning classroom procedures, routines, and expectations. Throughout the year activities within the classroom will focus on moving your child towards greater independence, positive socialization, and improved motor skills. Children learn through play, therefore, activities are structured so your child is having fun while at the same time working towards educational goals.

 Parent/Teacher Communication

I look forward to getting to know your child. I am glad to discuss any concerns or answer questions you may have.  I can be reached by phone at (817) 598-2811 ext. 4430. My conference period is from 11-11:45 each day. I can also be contacted by Email at tmcgee@weatherfordisd.com

 Parent/Teacher Communication

I look forward to getting to know your child. I am glad to discuss any concerns or answer questions you may have. Typically drop off and pick-up times are very busy. It is best to set a time outside of class to meet with me. This will allow us to discuss your concerns in a more private and detailed manner. I can be reached by phone at (817) 598-2811 ext. 4430. My conference period is from 11-11:45 each day. I can also be contacted by Email at tmcgee@weatherfordisd.com

 Journals

Parent/Teacher communication is very important. A Communication Journal is provided to each student to facilitate this communication. You can use this journal to ask questions, get additional information, schedule a parent teacher conference or to express a concern.

It is one of our highest priorities to help your child cope with potentially stressful situations. I rely on good parent/teacher communication to accomplish this goal. Whenever possible, please let me know about any changes in your family life. Moving to a new house, mom or dad going out of town, the death of a pet, visiting relatives, major schedule changes--these can all be stressful occurrences in a child's life (and yours as well!) If you can alert me to these new situations, I will be better able to help your child work through the feelings and behaviors associated with these events.

 Morning Arrival:

School begins at 8:00 am. If your child arrives after 8:00 am you will need to sign in at the office and receive a tardy pass.

 Afternoon Dismissal:

The afternoon class will dismiss from the outside door of the classroom at 11:00 am.   The outside door has a number 3 posted above it to assist you in locating the correct door.

 Change of Clothes

The world of a three or four year old is often a messy and unpredictable place. Even if your child has mastered the art of potty training they could still have an occasional accident or spill during meal times. Please send a complete set of clothing in your child’s bag each day just in case it is needed. If your child is in the process of potty training and has frequent accidents additional sets of clothing will be required.

 Potty Training:

Potty training is a significant skill that children work towards at this age.   Your child will be encouraged to be as self-reliant and independent as possible. It is a skill that many of the students in my class have not yet mastered. It is important that the expectations at home and school are as consistent as possible. I will be discussing this with each parent to make sure your child’s individual needs are met.

 Toileting Supplies:

You will need to send diapers or pull ups and baby wipes for your child. It is recommended that you send a package of diapers and a container of wipes to school. A note will be send home in your child’s communication journal when additional supplies are needed.

Cafeteria Money:

The morning class will eat breakfast at school. Breakfast is $1.25 per meal. The afternoon class will eat lunch at school. Lunch is $2.05 per meal.

Meal Pre-payments can be made in the school cafeteria, to the classroom teacher, or debit or credit payments can be made online at www.weatherfordisd.com.

Many of our students may be eligible for the reduced-price or free meal program. Applications for the 2011-2012 school year will be sent home on the first day of school.

For questions regarding eligibility, please call (817) 598-2991. All application information is kept confidential.

Changes in Schedule

When your child's schedule varies from the norm, please be sure to keep me informed as much as possible. This information can be written in your child’s journal, sent through an email (tmcgee@weatherfordisd.com) or you may call the classroom at (817) 598-2811 ext 4430. Emails and voice messages will not be checked during class times. If it is an urgent matter that needs to be addressed immediately call the school office at (817) 598-2811 to insure the message has been received in a timely manner. If your child normally rides the bus it is the parent’s responsibility on days your child will be absent or has a change in transportation plans to contact the bus barn to let them know your child will not be riding. The phone number to inform the bus personal of any changes is DURHAM SCHOOL SERVICES 817-341-0626.

Field Trips/Volunteers Applications

There are field trips scheduled during the year. All adults who would like to participate in a field trip, classroom party or other school activity MUST complete a volunteer form. The volunteer application needs to be submitted at least 7 days prior to the event. The application is required to be processed and criminal background check returned before authorization can be given for that individual to participate classroom related activities. If there are parents, grandparents or other individuals that might want to be involved in school activities you are strongly encouraged to complete the application process now so this will not be an issue at a later date.

Additional Questions or Concerns:

If you have any additional questions or concerns please feel free to contact me by phone at (817) 598-2811 ext 4430 or by email at Tmcgee@weatherfordisd.com
