ePortfolio Purpose Statement
|
The concept of the portfolio is one that is old to me. I've been studying art and art education for some time now and have made numerous "analog" portfolios for my work. The concept of a digital portfolio, or an ePortfolio, is something that I've considered for myself but never did. I've developed large portfolio systems for students and faculty, but never something for my own work. The ePortfolio excites me, intrigues me and also makes me a tad nervous. The excitement comes from the fact that most of my own art work is based on web concepts and an ePortfolio makes sense. The nervousness comes from what I've seen of ePortfolios and that they often use a template into which content is stuffed. This was never the concept of the analog model. But then there's the intrigue of understanding what can make an ePortfolio become something more than it's designated input boxes. I'm hoping to learn something from this system through work arounds and also from the spaces created. Whatever happens I hope that what is here is rich and telling of who I am and the work that drives me.

Biographical Points
|
- My academic career began with my studies in Art Education at Penn State University (BS) and New York University (MA). I recently completed my doctorate at Teachers College Columbia University in Instructional Technology and Media.
- I've worked as an art teacher in the NYC public schools, teaching photography, television production, fine arts and more. When I went back to get my doctorate I took some time off before I started working for NYU SPCS. I'm currently working as the Associate Director for Distance Learning.
- I'm constantly doing a number of projects related to my field and my personal work; writing articles on art and technology and making works of art. A lot of my early works were either video or sculptural or both. But recently I started fcousing my attention to digital work, using the web as my mode of delivery. My subjects of interest are audio and information.
