STAAR Math Prep Ideas

Is your child in need of additional math help in prep for the STAAR test?  Well, you can turn that frustration into a positive smile and a feeling of confidence by visiting these websites.  There are unlimited math games, on line timed basic facts activities, free printable worksheets, brain teasers, drills, and more.  The ones I recommend are:

SoftSchools.com - Pre K - 6th grade

Kidzone,ws/math/

math-drills.com

Math Games for iPad Download
Hi, it is me once again with even more great  ideas to help the struggling math students.  I have listed several games I have recently downloaded on my school iPad that are sure to keep your child fully engaged and learning all the while.  I am providing a wide variety to choose from that I highly recommend.

Math Puppy (math bingo, math calculator, and math challenges for +, - , multiplication and division)
Splash Math (great for 3rd grade)
Singaport Math (for grade 3)
Pizza 2 and 3 (for teaching fractions)
Pearl Diver (I love it as well as the students.  Great for teaching whole numbers, fractions, decimals)
Angles ( is really challenging and fun using a spinner to measure various degrees.  Requires
               memorization)
Fraction Monkey (if your child enjoys Angry Bird, he/she will really like this game.  It is
played on the order of it.  Loads of fun and excitement!)
Stay tune for more ideas.

Math Help
Is your child struggling with math?  As the Mary Martin Math Inclusion teacher, it is my goal to provide an ongoing updated list of great math websites that are safe, free and fun for your child to play at  home on the computer to enhance his/her math skills.  I will also provide names of games I have downloaded and tried with math students on campus as one of my many teaching tools.  Several of them are actually free or only have a minimum cost to you to download.  Technology is an excellent tool for encouraging students to learn math in a fun, challenging way while building self-confidence at the same time.  It can't get much better than that, right?  Here are only a few you might find helpful:

superteacher.com

softschools.com

shepherdsoftware.com

mathplayground.com
