Open New Worlds with Reading
Help your child become a better reader by having a regular story time.
  • Read to your child every day.  Just 10-15 minutes before bedtime, while dinner is in the oven, or right after school can make a big difference in your child's literacy.
  • Make sure your child is a part of reading time.  Whether it's turning the pages, filling in missing words, or describing the pictures.
  • Take turns on who picks the book.  Your child may enjoy reading the same book over and over.  You can pick your childhood favorites or introduce new books to your child.
  • Make it fun.  Use different voices.  Change the names to people in your family.  Kids don't care how well you read, they'll just remember that you read with them.
