Biography
This is my 23rd year of teaching.  I am a native of Ohio and graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio with a BS in Secondary Education.  My major areas were Geography, Earth Science, and General Science. I have also completed several geography classes at the graduate level. This is my 10th year at Weatherford as a geography teacher and department chair.
Welcome and Overview

Welcome to the first semester of World Geography. I share in the commitment of the World Geography Department at theWeatherford High School Ninth Center, to provide a quality education, further the teaching of geography, and promote the value of geographic learning for all students.
World Geography provides students with the opportunity to study the interactions of people and their physical environments in the major areas of the world. Content introduces the students to the world of geographers, their unique vocabulary, and tools and methodologies. Students acquire an understanding of the physical setting of the earth, locate and study different landforms and regions of the world, learn how people and geography impact each other, and are introduced to urban analysis. Content offers students the opportunity to put into practice the geographical concepts and skills through critical thinking applications about the world. It also builds upon knowledge the students have accumulated throughout the social studies program beginning in the elementary grades and continuing through Texas and United States history courses taken at the junior high school level.

For those of you have accepted the challenge of Pre-Advanced Placement work, the purpose of the Pre-AP course is to prepare our highly motivated students for the rigorous and fast-paced Advanced Placement classes at the 11th and 12th grade levels. AP classes prepare for the national College Board Advanced Placement exams that allow students to earn college credit.

The Pre-AP student is expected to show a high level of commitment to learning, do a significant amount of reading and preparation outside of the classroom, take criticism gracefully, and keep abreast of current events. This course is designed to broaden analytical thinking and communication skills. Students will be encouraged to develop the skills necessary for them to analyze evidence and express an understanding of data in timed essay writings. These are the types of skills students will need in the Pre-AP World History class next year, and on the AP American History exam their junior year. Students must be able to demonstrate preparation for college-oriented writing.
Effective note taking, study techniques, and organizational skills are stressed in both the regular and Pre-AP classes.  All students are required to keep a notebook that demonstrates effective organization as well as a personal academic data folder in whih they will track, record, and evaluate their own performance.  These are available for you to view at any time during the year.
