AP Government

AP Government will be a college level government course which is taught so that students may receive college level credit while receiving high school credit at the same time. This course is a challenging course which will require the students to do additional reading and higher level thinking. Test will contain free response essay questions from college level classes. The course will teach the foundations of democracy, Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. After this we will study the three branches of government to include a minimum of thirty Supreme Court cases. Test will enable the students to take the Advance Placement government test in May and receive college level credit with a qualifying score.

Welcome to 2011 school year

During the upcoming semester in economics we will explore our country's current economic situation and what can be done to solve the problems of high unemployment and a sluggish economy. During the class we will discuss scarcity, supply and demand, taxes, the stock market, money supply, and international economics. In addition students will learn how to buy a home, how to buy insurance, and how to build a credit score. Our government class will be centered primarily on our costitution and the role it plays in shaping what our government can and cannot do. We will discuss extensively the Bill of Rights and our individual freedoms which our guaranteed in that document. We will discuss political parties in regards to what they believe. We will also cover the Supreme Court and the role it has played in shaping our countries laws, the students will be become familiar with at least twenty-five of the most important cases jhanded down by the court.To quote the words of a country and western song "we have a long way to go and a short time to get there" Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns this semester
