About Me
I am an 8th grade Science teacher and Department Head at Hall Middle School in Weatherford, Texas. I started teaching at Quail Valley Jr. High in the Fort Bend ISD for the first 9 years of my career and have been at Hall for the past 20 years. I graduated  from Rice University with a Bachelors of Arts and the University of Houston with a Masters in Science Education. I love teaching and working with students. There is nothing better than seeing the light in a students eyes when they finally understand a difficult concept.
I have been happily married for 21 years and we have two great kids. Next to my family and my students, I love all of the pets I have at home and in the classroom. I have a unique opportunity to connect with kids on a different level through our shared interest in animals. Not only do they create a desire to come to class, they also add a calming effect when the stress of school gets too great. It is amazing ,what a little bunny therapy can do for students and teachers.

Welcome
Welcome to 8th grade Science!! I am looking forward to a  fantastic year.

This year our 8th graders will be taking the new STAAR test in science. (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readyness) This test will cover material from 6th, 7th and 8th grade, simmilar  to the old TAKS test. The difference, according to the state it that the questions will be more challenging for the students.
We don't know much more at this time but my goal is to prepare your student in every way possible. The scores for this year will not count for the student or the school report card but they will give us information on how to improve our instruction.

Don't forget, we keep several critters in my room..... 3 snakes, 2 rabbits, and 2 rats. Come by and visit after school some time if you want to see them.
Students will need to  get a permission slip signed in order to handle any of the animals.
