Measuring up!
|
After a thorough rerun through the Pythagorean Theorem, we are launching into a review of area, perimeter, and circumference. This will springboard us into surface area and volume. Be looking for a few homework assignments in this unit.

I am very excited about my students this year in Math 8! We will be covering a lot of material. This six weeks we will cover fractions, decimals, percents, integer operations, fraction operations and scientific notation. Parents, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to a terrific year!

Grading policy
|
My six-weeks grades are a simple average of all assignment grades. Daily assignments and homework grades count once, but tests go in the gradebook twice. The semester exams will count for 1/7th (or 14%) of the semester average. Late Work I will accept late work up until designated deadlines for the nearest Progress Report/Report Card. Any late assignment will automatically be deducted 30 points, earning at most, a 70. Corrections Almost every failing assignment OR test is eligible for corrections to raise your grade to a 70, under the following conditions: 1. The original grade received was lower than a 70. 2. The student re-works all incorrect problems on a separate sheet of paper. 3. The corrected problems are turned in with the original graded assignment.
