My Bio

Marilyn Freimuth PhD is a member of the clinical psychology faculty at Fielding Graduate University where she serves as faculty chair.
Marilyn runs the “Chicago” cluster named after its meeting place but not the location of its students who come from states ranging from Nebraska to Tennessee and Wisconsin to Missouri. She is on the board and faculty member of the Fielding’s Alonso Center that has the goal of supporting the talk therapies in the age of managed care. Her teaching interests include: addiction assessment, psychoanalysis, consultation and supervision, theories of personality, and psychotherapy process and research.
Marilyn’s research is focused in the area of addictions. She runs an active research program with students. Her two most recent books that incorporate students’ research are: Hidden Addictions: Assessment Practices for Psychotherapists, Counselors,and Health Care Providers and Addicted? Recognizing Destructive Behavior Before It’s Too Late.
