Here we are in March already! The year is going by so quickly, which means that GRADUATION and SUMMER are just around the corner!!!

Keep up with your work, seniors, and make sure to finish the year strong!
Here is a little bit about what we'll be doing in the fifth six weeks... It's going to be FUN!!!
Aquatic Science:
Biological Monitoring at Roo Pond: Every couple of weeks, we'll take a trip to Roo Pond to collect water samples. After bringing these samples back to the lab, we will count and identify macroinvertebrates, and determine the health of the water.
Dichotomous Keys: We will learn to use dichotomous keys to identify organisms. Students will also create dichotomous keys in class.
Fish: Students will differentiate between Chondrichthyes and Osteichthyes, and will learn all about the anatomy of various species of fish. We will also use a dichotomous key to identify real (preserved) fish specimens in the lab!
Environmental Systems:
Nuclear Energy: We will examine the atomic model, and differentiate between fission and fusion. Students will create models of a nuclear cask in our Egg Drop project, and will also calculate their own radiation dosage. Finally, students will research an assigned nuclear disaster, and create a Prezi (presentation tool from
www.prezi.com) about it.
Energy Alternatives: We will explore various alternatives to non-renewable energy sources, identifying pros and cons to each. Students will produce a convection current in the lab, and over a period of two weeks, will build and use a solar oven.
