Welcome to 5th Grade ELA
The 5th graders really got into our class novel Where the Red Fern Grows. I think we went through about 3 boxes of tissue! For the last six weeks we will be focusing on media messages and literature circles. There will not be a book report brought home. Instead students will work with their literature circle group to create a book preview throught the website www.animoto.com for the rest of 5th grade to watch. They were able to view the videos my students created last year and became quickly interested in those novels. Even though there is not an at home book report, please encourage your child to keep reading about 30 minutes each night. This will help their fluency, comprehension, and help them become life long readers.

Want to wear a hat in school???
Hats in school?! Yes! Mrs. Braudaway has announced students may wear hats on the remaining Fridays (May 11, 18, and 25) as well as Tuesday May 29th. Here's the catch.... it'll cost you! Every day you wear a hat, you must donate $0.25 to raise money for Crockett. What a great deal!!!
