Now, we are approaching a very busy season of the year. The class is working very diligently on skills that will carry into the New Year. We're studying two-digit addition and subtraction, money, and graphs. Social Studies and Science skills include looking at different cultures and their holidays, rocks and soil, natural resources, and water sources (bodies of water). In Language Arts, we continue to learn and review phonics, spelling, vocabulary, cursive writing, creative writing, and story elements.
Important dates and information to remember are:
~Bring in more, more, more BoxTops!!!!!!!!!! The contest continues!
~If you would like to contribute to Ikard's annual Holiday Cowboy Tree, which serves those less fortunate, please do so each morning between the library and the computer lab.
~The Second Grade field trip will be Wed., Dec.15 to see "Tangled". The cost is $5.50 or $10.50 with a snack. Money should be turned in by Mon., Dec. 13.
~Our Holiday Party will be Thurs., Dec. 16 at 2:00. The children are to bring one, new, wrapped book that is non-gender specific for our Book Exchange. Snacks will be provided by the parents, with Mrs. Thompson, our room-mother as the coordinator.
~Friday, Dec. 17 will be a half day, with dismissal at 11:45, and no lunch served.
Please make sure your child continues to read 20 minutes each night and parents sign the reading log, complete the weekly homework by Friday, correct all work below a 70, study Spelling words nightly, and practice Math facts (addition and subtraction).
