All students are presenting their research projects. 3rd and 4th are creating PowerPoints with text, graphics, transitions, and hyperlinks. 5th and 6th are displaying their creativity and knowledge skills while developing web sites. Computer programs are completed during class time.
Next week, April 16th - 20th, will be our last week of class. Quest teachers will begin testing nominated students on April 30th.
3rd and 4th grade students are actively involved in solving Picturing Polygons and Challenge Math problems. 3rd and 4th are also learning skills to help them conquer life's challenges (Learning to be a Durable Person). This year, 5th/6th grade students are studying the 20's & 30's and the Stock Market. With current events happening today, our study of these subjects will be very timely. 5th graders will solve Algebra Thinking problems and 6th grade have begun Challenge Math.
5th and 6th are learning science vocabulary while building trolleys. We will try out their strategies next week when we race our trolleys.
Our units of study integrate the four core curriculum areas (language arts, math, social studies, and science) together.
The Quest program serves identified Gifted and Talented students in grades kindergarten through sixth. Grades 3rd through 6th are pulled out of the regular classroom for a full day each week and 1st and 2nd graders are challenged in their regular classroom by their Gifted and Talented certified teachers.
Quest testing occurs once each year in the spring. Kindergarten testing takes place the end of January. Nominations may be submitted through the WISD website or through the school office.
