Teaching Interests
Mrs. Makeever's Munchkins
Three more weeks of school!  Please help us finish strong.   This week, we will be taking our DRA Test.  This test tells us your child's reading level.  Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest.  I continue to stress the importance of doing our best every day.  First grade is not fall away.
I wanted to let all the parents know, we turned in the most BOX TOPS again!  We turned in 783 Box Tops.  So once again, we have the Box Top trophy setting in our room.  Thank you so much for sending in your Box Tops.
We have been busy sounding out and blending words, reading and writng words, making word lists and reading them.  In Math, we are working on counting past 100 by 1's, 5's and 10's!  We are recognizing and writing the numbers 0 - 50.  We continue to read and fill in graphs.  Practicing on patterns and writing in the missing numbers.  This week we have started talking about addition.  In Science we are learning all about plants.  We are having so much fun!!!
Please continue to have your child read his/her little books to you each night.  Also, they need to be practicing the word wall words on the orange sheet in their little book bag.  These words will be in their little books.  The more words they know, the better job they will do reading their little books.  Just a reminder, WISD has set the goal of all Kindergartens to be  reading a level 4 DRA book independently, by the end of the school year.
Again, please make sure your child is getting enough rest.  We want to finish out our Kindergarten year, strong and as prepared as we can be for First Grade.

     Thanks!
     Mrs. Makeever
