Math and Reading Interventionist

Welcome to Mrs. Craun's Math and Reading Room! My name is Kim Craun. I work with math and reading students Kindergarten thru 6th grade. This is my 9th year as a math and reading specialist. I taught third grade for 18 years at Austin Elementary before I became a specialist. Our primary grades have completed their beginning of the year assessments in reading and math. These assessments will let students' teachers know where each child stands, where help is needed or where students need challenges to increase learning. Many classes have been reading biographies. Biographies are a great way to capture children's imaginations. Tips for increasing literacy at home: - have reading materials readily available, books, magazines, newspapers
- let your child see you reading for fun
- read a book with your child that was your favorite at their age
- share interesting stories, jokes, articles that you read
Reading is a great adventure! If your children see that you make reading a priority, it will be a priority for them as well.
