John Antoine Labadie is a traditional trained artist-professor who now works exclusively in new media and transmedia art forms. He has been associated with the University of North Carolina Pembroke since 1994. In the spring of 2007 Dr. Labadie and his artist-collaborator wife Margie Labadie exhibited their digital artwork, gave lectures and presented workshops at the Academy of Electronic Arts in Delhi, the Banasthali Vidyapith University in Rajasthan, and at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad and Ghandinagar, India. In 2005-2006 John Antoine Labadie served as a Fulbright Senior Scholar with the Center for Creativity & Innovation Studies at National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan and also as Visiting Artist at Taipei National University of the Arts in Beitou, Taiwan and The Beijing Film Academy in Beijing, China. Dr. Labadie has over 30 years experience in the visual arts. Labadie's art career includes positions in photography, scientific illustration, journal & magazine editing, art direction, graphic design and fine arts. Dr. Labadie regularly publishes and exhibits with professional national and international groups and associations in the USA, the Americas, Europe and Asia. Dr. Labadie is a Professor of Art and the Director of the UNCP Digital Academy and currently teaches digital art studio, digital art appreciation, communication design and media integration studies courses.
