My Bio

Judith Schoenholtz-Read, EdD, is a faculty member in the School of Psychology since 2002 and was an Associate Dean for Clinical Training from 1999-2002 and the Associate Dean for Student Development from 1986-1999. She graduated with a doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia in 1981 as a midlife student. She presently teaches Theories of Personality, Psychotherapy Process and Research, Consultation and Supervision and Group Psychotherapy. Judith has chaired and participated in numerous dissertations and has a special interest in qualitative methodologies.

Her present research focuses on how graduate students in a networked learning doctoral program construct their education. Her theoretical orientation focuses on theory integration particularly psychoanalytic and social cognitive theories. She has interests in gender issues as they relate to cultural diversity in psychotherapy process and outcomes.
Judith has served as the Co-Chair of the Fielding Council and is a founding member of the Alonso Center for Psychoanalytic Studies where she is currently a member of the Board. Judith has been the Secretary of the American Psychological Association’s Division 49, Group Psychotherapy. She is a Fellow of American Group Psychotherapy Association and Canadian Group Psychotherapy Association. As well, she is co-editor with Kjell Rudestam of the Handbook of Online Learning: Innovations in Higher Education and Corporate Training. She has published in peer reviewed journals on topics of integrated psychotherapy and gender issues in psychotherapy particularly group psychotherapy.
