Daniel Sewell, PhD is associate provost for research & learning at Fielding Graduate University and a member of the faculty in the School of Psychology.
As associate provost for research & learning, Dan is responsible for both the research and the learning infrastructure at Fielding. He has been working to further develop the research culture by developing a sponsored projects office, by supporting internally funded faculty and student research, and by supporting faculty or groups including faculty to develop external funding for research projects. In his role as chief learning officer, Dan is responsible for information technology, library services, and the delivery of learning events at Fielding.
In his role as a member of the faculty in the School of Psychology, Dan teaches seminars on Introductory Statistics, Research Ethics, and Research & Dissertation Funding. In addition, he assesses Knowledge Areas related to Cognitive Psychology and Cognitive Media Psychology.
Dan’s most recent scholarly work has been an examination of the nature of the scholar-practitioner in higher education.
Dan has been at Fielding since January of 2000. Dan received a PhD in Psychology with a specialization in cognitive psychology from Emory University in 1985. During and since his graduate school days, he has worked as an educator as well as being an independent consultant, a research scientist at an R&D firm, and a research coordinator at a medical school. He has done research and consulting work in a wide range of areas including cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence, organizational development, systems analysis, clinical psychology, rehabilitation psychology, behavioral medicine, and public health.
