Welcome

Welcome to Project Share! My name is Debby Green and I am a social studies specialist at Region 12 ESC in Waco, Texas. I have the honor of working with outstanding teachers who are passionate about their students and about their subject. As a former social studies teacher, I know how hard these dedicated teachers work, so it is my pleasure to provide any help they might need. STAAR Bright! Spring Break has come and gone for most of our districts and now all eyes appear to be focused on STAAR. As a veteran educator, I have witnessed the birth of many new assessments and I know that always raises our anxiety level. We all worry about what will be on the test, how many questions they have get to get correct to pass, etc.. Truth be told, we were never given a sneak preview of any of those past assessments. And, yet, we went right on with our good teaching and provided our students many opportunities to learn the concepts. We met the assessments head-on and we all survived and did quite well. We rose to the occasion and so did the students of Texas. We will rise to this new occasion as well! Teachers are asking, "What can we do to ensure that our students are successful?" The answer is that the key to success is strong instruction in the required curriculum. Teach your TEKS; teach them to the cognitive level demanded by the student expectations; and provide your students many opportunities to become problem-solvers and critical thinkers.
