Barclay’s Spanish Classroom Procedures
Students must bring required materials to class every day.
Required supplies:
1. Textbook and workbook
2. 2” three ring binder with 5 dividers
3. Pen or pencil
4. Notebook paper
Rules
1. When the bell rings, sit down, stop talking, face the front and give me your attention.
2. Place all bags and purses on the floor and place these items in plain sight on your desk: notebook, workbook, pencil.
3. Do not distract yourself or others in any way, including cell phone use and uninvited talking.
4. Work hard and do not stop until all your work is complete.
Consequences
1. 10 minute lunch detention
2. Call home & before or after school detention
3. Referral to your assistant Principal
Severe clause: Immediate referral to your Associate Principal
Repeated failure to observe rules will result in parent conference and AP referrals.
Disrespect will result in an immediate referral.
Attendance and Tardies:
If a student is tardy to class, I will not stop and disrupt class to give them missed work or handouts. If we are taking a quiz, they may take the quiz but will have only the remaining allotted time to complete it. If a listening or speaking activity is missed, students must come before or after school, or during lunch to complete that activity.
It is the student’s responsibility to obtain make-up work! As soon as you return from an absence, check with other students for what was missed. Obtain worksheets or class handouts from the bins or class folder, and then check with me before or after school or class if you have other questions.
You are responsible to turn in homework by due dates according to WHS policy.
Tests are announced at least 2 class blocks in advance: If you miss the day or your Spanish block before a quiz or test, you will still take the quiz or test the day you return and have Spanish block. This means you should always prepare ahead of time for quizzes and tests. If you are not satisfied with your grade you can come in for tutorials and retake the quiz or exam within two calendar days of quiz or exam.
Participation and verbal practice are very important, as oral proficiency is a primary goal in language. Students are expected to respond and participate in all listening and speaking assignments which will constitute 25 % of their grade. If you are not satisfied with your oral grade you can come in for tutorials and retake the listening activity or oral exam within two calendar days of quiz or exam for full credit. The ultimate goal is to be successful!
