I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break! We had a great turn out for our open house on Mar. 5th! The kids loved showing their projects with their family! We have worked on a research project where the children got to do online research on a topic of their choice! We were so excited to guide our own learning! We have also written and typed our autobiographies. We are having so much fun reading each others in class! This week in math we are learning about fractions and dividing things into equal parts. In Language Arts we are learning about the sounds "ea" and "ee" in words. For example: eat, seat, read, clean, treat, feet, green, see, free. We are also working very hard in reading to reach our end of year goal of level 18.

November

We had an amazing time on our fieldtrip to see Jigsaw Jones and the case of the class clown. It is fun to see our favorite stories come to life on stage! Our class has also made Christmas ornaments for the Senior Angel tree at Christmas on the Square! Come by and see the ornaments your child made and choose an angel off the tree! The tree is located on York Ave. at the Red Rooster.

Homework
|
1st graders are required to read each night an record this on their reading log. This is a part of their grade! Your main job is to ENCOURAGE your child and give them confidence that they CAN read and that they ARE successful! This has to be a positive experience for your child. Our end of year reading goal is a level 18-20 to go to second grade! We will be working very hard!
