May 2011 new website to checkout from Dr. Howard-Schwind: 1. Come to class prepared to work. (Notes/spirals, writing utensil, everyday.) 2. Come to class on time. 3. Come to class with a respectful attitude. 4. Do the best you can with what you have. One week of school left and we patiently await the results of the Social Studies and Science TAKS tests. If you pass the TAKS test you will be exempted from taking your freshman fall semester exam. Final exams will begin Wednesday (1st & 8th periods), Thursday/Early Release 12:05 (2nd, 3rd, 4th periods, and Friday/Early Release 12:05 (5th, 6th, 7th periods). A copy of the review is on my website under the "Shared Objects" folders.

Look Here!

Students & Parents, Did you know that you can check out my website and find copies of worksheets and notes that we have done in class? If you find yourself missing an assignment or notes or even a review sheet, chances are you can find them here. Here's how. Look under the "Quick Links" tabs and find the Shared Object bar. Under this bar you will find different folders for each six weeks. As the six weeks progress I will add to it, so check often.

Welcome to US History
|
Dear Students and Parents, Welcome to 8th grade United States History! I am Mrs. Olivares-Parmer, and I will be your teacher this year in room 135. I expect to see you set high goals for yourself, and in return you can expect me to help you achieve those goals. As 8th graders you are preparing to enter high school, so this year will be dedicated to not only excellence as an 8th grader, but to further instill priceless tools needed to be successful in life. What can you expect in my class this year? #1 – High standards. Realistic expectations for real success. #2 – Self discipline. No surprises. When you do your best with what you have and follow the expectations for conduct, you will amaze yourself at what you can accomplish. #3 – Work. We will work hard to meet the challenges that lie ahead of us. #4 – Above all, you will find that even when we work hard, discipline ourselves, and achieve those high standards, you will look back and see that you genuinely had fun going it. And welcome to part one of the history of the greatest country on earth, the United States of America. My conference time is between 9:00 am to 9:50 am
