Catherine McIlwain, RHIA
|
Catherine is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Health Information Management program. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science and Education in Public Health, with an emphasis on health education, from The University of Toledo. Catherine was the first graduate of the post-baccalaureate Certificate in Health Information Administration program. She is also a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Catherine teaches Healthcare Resources, Payers, and Consumers, Documentation Requirements, Reimbursement Methodology, Healthcare Statistics, Registries and Research. A native of Australia, Catherine is a 2nd generation University of Toledo educator; her father, Lionel, retired in 1997 after 30 years of service as a tenured professor in Health Education. Catherine has performed key roles in public service while working with the Ohio Department of Youth Services, Lucas County Juvenile Court, as a volunteer for AmeriCorps, and with Lucas County Children Services. Catherine and her husband are also successful business owners. She brings to the program a wide range of experience and knowledge.
