There will be multiple ways we can communicate this year.
· All assignments, grades and attendance records will be available on the Parent Portal. Find the Parent Portal at weatherfordisd.com. Follow the “For Parents” link on the lower left side of the page and then to the “Infinite Campus – Parent Portal” link. Grades will be updated on the Parent Portal at least weekly.
· Information for my classes will also be posted on my web site, which can be found at weatherfordisd.com. Follow the “School Web Sites” link (left side of page), to the Weatherford High School link, to “On-Line Classrooms”, and then to “Brad Wilson” under Science. There is a “Quick Note” function at the bottom of my web page which will generate an email to me for a quick contact.
· You can also reach me at any time via normal email. My address is bwilson@weatherfordisd.com.
· You can call me at any time. My number is 817-598-2858, ext 3612. If you do not catch me please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible.
· So that I may contact you, please complete and return the information attached and let me know your preferred contact method – email or phone.
· Progress reports will be given out after the third week of each six weeks. These are intended to help you monitor your child’s progress in the course.
Academic Assistance
· My standing Tutoring Times are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons 3:45 – 4:30 and Wed mornings 7:30 to 8:00. Appointments may be made at other times for special cases. Ms. Loveland also teaches Physics I and she is available during her tutoring times: Mon, Tues, and Thurs mornings.
· The Learning Center is available for tutorials and make-up work on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the school library from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Teachers from a variety of subject areas, as well as National Honor Society tutors will be available to help with any subject area. Students will also have access to library resources and computers.
· Please encourage your child to seek assistance if she/he is having any difficulty or is falling behind.
Lab Safety
· Because Physics involves laboratory work, the safety of our students is paramount. Lab safety rules have been reviewed in class and all students are expected to know and abide by these rules. A Laboratory Safety Agreement will be given to each student enrolled in this course. Parents and students must sign the agreement.
Materials – Each student needs the following material for every class:
· Pen or Pencil with eraser – pencil is recommended for math work
· Calculator – scientific or graphing (cell phones are not allowed) (Calculators can be checked out from the Library at no cost.)
· 3 Ring Binder with notebook paper
· Lab Book (composition book or spiral notebook)
Grading and Make-Up Work
· Grades will be based on 50% from tests and 50% from Labs/Quizzes/Daily Work.
· Students are expected to do their own assignments and neatly show all work. If no work is done, no credit will be given. Late work will not be given full credit. Students may earn the opportunity to drop one low quiz grade each six weeks.
· Plagiarism, cheating or copying the work of another student on any assignment will result in a zero.
· Students may have one retest per 6 weeks. The student must attend a tutorial before being allowed a retest. The retest grade will replace only one test grade. It is possible to make a grade of 80% on the retest. It is the students responsibility to take care of all business involved in taking the retest.
Absences
· If a student is absent, it is the student’s responsibility to get the notes and work missed from me either before or after school. It is recommended that they come for tutoring on the day they return from absence. Any labs missed MUST be made up in tutorials or an alternative assignment must be completed. Students will have the number of days missed, plus one, to complete any missed assignments.
