My Bio:

Before joining Montgomery College in 2000, Dr. Baker served as a Vice President with GAI where for nearly 20 years he helped to build one of the more successful, award-winning media communications and technical consulting companies on the East Coast offering a complete range of creative services including motion picture (feature films, documentaries, training) and television production (broadcast and non-broadcast), advertising, public relations, broadcast design, animation, and other specialized visual communications and management consulting services for over 500 clients world-wide (including CBS, Maryland Public Broadcasting, Fox Television, 21st Century Films, et al).  His work in film and television has been seen world-wide and he has been featured in many national trade journals and publications.  Perhaps most importantly, Dr. Baker helped to create an award-winning campaign that created a nationwide celebration and a permanent national holiday honoring the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. when he served for two years as the Executive Director for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday Commission under the auspices of the King Center in Atlanta, Georgia and the Department of Housing and Urban Development from 1986 until 1988.

Currently, he is the Director, IT Learning Technologies and Services at Montgomery College where he also serves as part-time faculty teaching courses in media communications, computer graphics and illustration, animation, and business.  In his role as Director, Dr. Baker has helped transform the College’s technology platform to support many new teaching and learning enterprises using technology.  His work has also helped transform the College’s media and educational access television enterprise into a nationally recognized and award-winning communications operation that serves to provide outreach and educational programming to the broader College community, and also serves as the “digital bridge to the future” for the College community and its students by offering practical internships and job placement opportunities.  He is also an active member of the administrative team and has served on many important committees at the College.

As an educator, Dr. Baker has also served as adjunct faculty for the American University in Washington DC (School of Communications), the University of Maryland Baltimore County (School of the Visual Arts), and is also an active volunteer to the Montgomery County Public School systems in the After School Enrichment Program, the Community Resources Bank, Career and Vocational Technology Education, and in many other ways.

In closing, Dr. Baker is currently serving his third term as the Chairman of the Public Access, Educational and Government Access (PEG) Network in Montgomery County Maryland where he represents nine access
