PLEASE RETURN ALL READING GROUP & LIBRARY BOOKS!
HOMEWORK: Last week of math homework! & Spelling, too!!
REMINDER: always be prepared for Outclass on Fridays by sending shoes for P.E. The Friday Outclass schedule alternates, so be ready for anything!
SNACK: please send one dry, healthy snack each day. We have a few kids who are unable to bring a snack, so if anyone would like to send extras (pretzels, cereal, crackers, fruit snacks), we would greatly appreciate it!
Weather note: Who knows what the weather will be?!?!? Please dress your child in layers and a jacket so they are prepared for any temps at recess and dismissal, and fire/evacuation drills (we have these at least once a month).
Spelling: Our spelling test is on Friday, so be prepared

Please check the Spelling icon to see which words your child is responsible for.
Reading: I greatly appreciate the time you spend reading with your child. Please remember that he or she needs to read to you as well, to build fluency. Our goal is to start the year on reading level 4-6, reach DRA level 12 in December, and DRA level 18 by the end of the year. Our fluency goal is 60 wpm (correct words per minute). Over the summer and as we jump into the new school year, please continue to practice reading (to, by and with) and having your student retell what was read in his or her own words (speed isn't everything if we can't remember or understand what we read). Don't forget: our goal for the end of the year is DRA level 18!
Math: Please practice basic math facts, addition and subtraction! We want these math facts to become automatic, but as the students learn, we have no problem allowing them to use fingers or any other strategy that helps them make progress and accomplish this. Although we study a variety of math skills every six weeks, addition and subtraction facts are a major part of the foundation of mathematic success! Flash cards are available at many places around Weatherford, including Target and Dollar Tree! We will also be making them in class.
