Welcome to 6th Grade Math

Hi!  My name is Aimee Seaberry.  I have an adorable little boy named Caden who will be 1 1/2 at Christmas time.  I am married to my best friend, John, who works as a paramedic for Fort Worth. This will be my 4th year teaching 6th grade math at Crockett.  I previously taught 7th grade math, 8th grade science and kindergarten.  I absolutely love teaching 6th graders!  It's going to be a great year!  I will be posting weekly what we are doing in class.  Also, check out the Parent Portal to see your student's grades as the year moves along.  It's a wonderful tool!

Students will be discovering many new math concepts this year on their own. They will work with many different math manipulatives to accomplish this goal. One of the primary focuses this year will be the introduction of proportionality and working more with rational numbers.

NOTEBOOKS - Students will keep their math work in an interactive spiral that will stay in our classroom. If you wish to see how your student is doing in math, all grades are recorded in the front of their spiral and you may request to see that.

CORRECTIONS - Students who make below a 70 on any paper or test need to correct it as soon as possible. Corrections are to be done on a separate piece of notebook paper. The problem needs to be written out, work shown and the answer circled. If the corrections are done correctly, the student will receive an 80 for the assignment.

TUTORINGI offer tutoring every day from 2:30-3:15 and after school by appointment. Any student is welcome to come.

HOMEWORK – Homework is 5 problems nightly from the topic we are currently discussing in class.  Homework grades are averaged for the week for one grade.  If a student does not complete the homework and does not have an adequate excuse then a zero will be averaged in for that missing assignment.  This should help prepare students for middle school where they are expected to have much lengthier assignments nightly.
