Welcome to Texas History and Intro to Publications!

 

My name is Amanda Fowler, and I teach both 7th grade Texas History and 8th grade Intro to Publications. We have an exciting year ahead of us.

 

In Texas History, the students will learn about Texas geography, exploration, colonization, TX Revolution, TX as a republic, TX statehood, Texas's role in the Civil War and reconstruction, through the cattle and oil booms. This is a unique opportunity for them to learn about how Texas became the state it is today.

 

In Intro to Publications, the students will focus on the Tison yearbook and end-of-year Talent Show. The Tison yearbook is a great opportunity as well as a huge responsibility. They learn the aspects of putting together a yearbook through an online publication system. The students are responsible for all the content as well as the photography for the book. They use their creativity to create lasting memories for the students of Tison. The talent show occurs at the end of the school year after the yearbook is complete. The students create the theme and script for the show themselves as well as assist in selecting the talent.
