The Self Assessment quiz is now available! Please keep in mind the following:
The self assessment quiz is 'open book.' It is recommended that you keep a copy of the Weatherford ISD Acceptable Use policy (available in Resources) handy while completing the quiz.
Your score on the self assessment does not affect course completion. The quiz is simply a demonstration of the tools you and your students will have available within the Epsilen environment.
You MUST disable pop-up blockers and any internet add-on search bars (Google, Yahoo, Ask, etc.) prior to accessing the quiz. (Many thanks to Ms. Cheshire and Ms. Purdy for their assistance regarding Internet toolbars.)

Morning everyone!
I just thought you might like to know that MJ has graciously offered to enter everyone who completes the eight student participant assignments prior to July 4th in a drawing for a Flip camera!
Everyone is doing a fanstastic job! Please keep in mind that the Student Perspective lessons are designed to show you the tools that are available for students and to allow you some time to get comfortable with them.
On July 4th, the Teacher Perspective lessons begin (don't actually start them on Independence Day, that was done for effect)! The Teacher Perspective lessons will help you develop your own eCourse and I honestly can't wait to see what you build!
July 14th we will meet at the Technology Building for our roundtable discussion, so be sure you're keeping lots of notes, preferably using the Take Notes feature. ;-)
Again, I can't thank you enough for participating in this pilot program!

I just wanted to let you know that chat will be available throughout the course instead of only during moderated sessions. This decision was made so you would have more opportunites to test chat functionality and hopefully to discuss the course with your instructors and peers.
Please keep the WISD Acceptable Use Policy in mind while using the chat feature and remember that all chat sessions are logged and archived.
Thank you for your participation!

The Face-to-Face sessions are worth 3 CPE credits each.
The time you spend working on assignments within this course may earn you up to an additional 6 CPE credits. Assignments for this course are not 'graded.' You do not have to reach a minimum grade requirement in this course, but participation will affect the number of CPE hours you earn. All time spent within the course is logged as are the activities you perform while logged in. Both time spent and quality of the activities performed will be taken into account when determining your final CPE credits. Participants who attend both face-to-face sessions and actively participate in the course may earn up to 12 CPE credits. Those who missed the first face-to-face session may still earn up to 9 CPE credits.
This is a PILOT eCourse. It is important to keep in mind that we are testing some features of the Epsilen environment for the first time. You will be advised regarding the test results as this may affect how you choose to use the course elements.
The ONE 'exam' given in this course will cover the WISD Acceptable Use Policy. Multiple choice questions and fill-in-the-blank questions are graded automatically. Short answer and essay questions will be graded by the course instructors and a final 'grade' for the exam will be issued following. The test given is only an example and will not count toward completion of this course. This step will be necessary in order to show you how the course element works and to give you some ideas regarding how you might use this with your students. (Review, self-assessment, etc.)

Good afternoon!
Your Epsilen account has been updated to include the tools necessary to create an online learning environment and you have been sent an invitation to participate in the Epsilen-based eCourse, WISD-Building a Blended Learning Environment. The invitation will be emailed to both your Epsilen email and your WISD email dependent upon the settings you have chosen within your ePortfolio.
To accept the course invitation, please log in to your Epsilen ePortfolio, click Courses on the navigation bar, and then select My Invitations on the submenu. Please click the green check next to the Blended Learning eCourse.
Tips for our Pilot Teachers
:
Please take some time to read through all announcements. Announcements will appear on the course home page regularly and will be your first stop each time you log in to the course. Instructions and prompts for continuing the course will be posted here.
Be sure and review the WISD Acceptable Use Policy which is available in the Resources section as well as the first two course lessons. Significant changes were made to the policy at the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year regarding social media and 21st Century learning.
Each time you log in to the course, please check the course calendar for any updates.
If any lessons are inaccessible (greyed out), please keep in mind that certain lessons are not available until the date they are scheduled; once the scheduled date arrives, the lesson link will be activated. Scheduling allows instructors time to continue revising upcoming lessons and prevents participants from working ahead.
Be aware that in order to fully demonstrate Epsilen’s eCourse tools, many items will be edited during the face-to-face session. If you do not preview the course before the course date, you will be unaware of these changes. Discussion in the face-to-face session will detail these steps. There will be a multimedia presentation later within the course to demonstrate creation and editing of these components.
Please do not begin creation of your own eCourse until asked to do so.
Your final assessment is the creation of a specific eCourse that will give you experience with the tools available without the need to make massive revisions to a course you would like to make available to your students.
Please log in to your ePortfolio, click Take Notes, select Create New Take Notes, and enter the title Take Notes Assignment – Blended Learning. This assignment will be sent to the course instructor toward the end of the course. Creating this note ahead of time will give you an extra Take Notes form for use during the eCourse. Please use the course Take Notes feature for your notes outside the assignment. Explanations as to why we created a specific note for the Take Notes assignment will be available when we get to that assignment date.
If you have questions or are unsure about any of the topics we cover during the course, please let me know using either the course email system or the Quick Notes form on my ePortfolio at www.epsilen.com/gworden.
Thank you so much for your participation in the pilot program; I look forward to working with you!
Gena
